Ouagadougou: Lawmakers from Burkina Faso`s interim parliament on Thursday voted in favour of a resolution asking the High Court to impeach deposed leader Blaise Compaore for "high treason" and undermining the constitution, an AFP reporter saw.

Compaore fled the country last October after his plans to extend his 27-year rule sparked a popular uprising. The landlocked country has since been run by transitional authorities.
