Chinese Vice-Premier Li Keqiang has re-assured that his country is committed to properly resolve the South China Sea issue with Vietnam.

Beijing: Chinese Vice-Premier Li Keqiang has re-assured that his country is committed to properly resolve the South China Sea issue with Vietnam.

“The two countries should proceed from the overall and long-term interests and take effective measures to properly handle the South China Sea issue,” Keqiang said.

During a meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, Keqiang said China is willing to work with the Vietnamese side to enhance high-level exchanges, promote substantive cooperation and cement new ties.

Noting both countries are at critical moment for development, Keqiang urged the two neighbours to deepen pragmatic cooperation and achieve mutual economic benefits, The China Daily reports.

“China encourages and supports capable enterprises with good reputation to invest in Vietnam,” the paper quoted him, as saying.

According to the report, Hai said he agreed with Keqiang on his views of the development of bilateral relations.

He added that he believes China`s further growth will make greater contributions to the world peace and development.
