Brussels: The European Union called for "democratic, inclusive and transparent" elections in Burkina Faso as Brussels said it had "taken note" of the resignation of long-standing president Blaise Compaore on Friday.
"It is essential that the current crisis unfolds peacefully, based on a return to national dialogue," said a spokesman in a statement from the EU`s diplomatic service.
