Fort Worth: Former US president George W Bush says he turned to his faith during tough times in his eight years in office.
He told more than 1,100 people at a banquet on Saturday night for Fort Worth Christian School that he didn`t see how he could be president without prayer.
The former president also says he doesn`t plan on staying in the public eye. He says he won`t be "out there opining" or criticising his successor.
Bush also says he`s writing a book about his decisions in office so "you can draw your own conclusions."
Students presented Bush with a USD 5,000 cheque from fundraising efforts to help earthquake-ravaged Haiti. President Barack Obama has enlisted Bush and another former US president Bill Clinton to spearhead private fundraising for Haiti quake relief.
