Keratsin: The killing of an anti-fascist activist by a man owing allegiance to the far-right Golden Dawn party has created a huge furore in Greece.
34-year-old Pavlos Fyssas, who was also a hip hop singer, died was stabbed twice outside a cafe in the Keratsini area west of Athens. He later dies in the hospital.
Strongly condemning the incident, Prime Minister Antonis Samaras said that such killing will not be tolerated in democracy.
Samaras accused ‘descendents of the Nazis’ for poisoning social life and committing crimes. He also said that the far-right party Golden Dawn should be treated criminal organisation.
The 45-year-old man, arrested for the killing, had admitted that he belonged to Golden Dawn party. A knife and traces of blood were found near his car.
However, Golden Dawn leader Nicholas Michaloliakos has denied the involvement of the party in the said attack.
Massive demonstrations against the killing led to clashes between riot police in Keratsini and another five cities.
