Tehran: Iran’s opposition figure Mir Hossein Mousavi has returned home after medical examinations for a heart ailment, an Iranian news agency said late on Thursday.
According to the report by the state-owned YJC.ir, Mousavi, who contested against President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in the 2009 election, is in good condition but must continue medical treatment at home.
Reformers charged that Ahmadinejad`s victory was fraudulent, and demonstrations rocked Iran for weeks. Then Iranian authorities moved against the opposition.
The 70-year-old Mousavi and fellow opposition leader Mahdi Karroubi have been effectively silenced. Mousavi has been under house arrest since widespread crackdowns in early 2011.
This was the first official confirmation of Mousavi`s condition after foreign-based opposition figures and websites said on Thursday that he was undergoing cardiac tests in a hospital.
