Geneva: Talks over Iran`s disputed nuclear programme have begun in Geneva between the world powers and Iran to freeze the programme and giving some relief from economic sanctions in exchange.

This is the second meeting in Geneva in which the five world powers are negotiating with the Iranian officials hoping to reach an argreement.

The first day of the two-day meeting began with European Union diplomatic chief Catherine Ashton, who is chairing the talks, holding a private meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
The disputed programme is condemned by the western powers suspecting that Iran is secretly building nuclear weapons. However, Iran has repeatedly said that its programme is only for peaceful purposes.
Iran is also slapped with several sanctions over the disputed nuclear programme.
