Tehran: Iran`s top security body has riled against the latest UN sanctions imposed over Tehran`s controversial nuclear program, saying they show world powers are applying a double standard.

The Supreme National Security Council says the US and other nuclear-armed powers have punished Iran even though it doesn`t have nuclear weapons, while at the same time they support Israel, which is widely believed to have a sizable nuclear arsenal.

The Iranian council says there was no justification for the sanctions. The council`s statement was released on Friday.
It says the UN nuclear watchdog has not found evidence that Tehran has diverted its nuclear program into weapons-making.
