Netanyahu says he enjoyed "Footnotes," the local film
nominated for an Oscar, and is wishing it luck at today`s
award ceremony.
Netanyahu told his Cabinet today that the movie "touched
the hearts of very many Israelis," including himself.
"Footnotes" is about a rivalry between father-son
Talmudic scholars in Jerusalem. Netanyahu, who is the son of a
professor and who grew up in the same neighborhood in which
the movie takes place, says the film had special resonance for
him.
"Footnotes" is competing against an Iranian film, "A
Separation," in the foreign language category. The two
countries are bitter enemies and tensions are high over Iran`s
nuclear programme.
Israel has earned four Oscar nominations since 2007 but
has never won.
