Kenya to pursue kidnappers into Somalia

Somali militants this week kidnapped two Spanish women working with Doctors Without Borders in a Kenya camp.

Nairobi: Kenya`s Minister of Internal Security says Kenyan forces will pursue al-Shabab militants into Somalia in order to protect its borders.

George Saitoti told a news conference on Saturday that Kenya`s territorial integrity is threatened by terrorism.

The plan to pursue fighters inside Somalia comes two days after gunmen crossed the border into Kenya and kidnapped two Spanish women working with Doctors Without Borders in the world`s largest refugee camp. Somali gunmen over the last six weeks also kidnapped a British woman and French woman from island resorts on the Kenyan coast.
Saitoti said Kenyan officials have closed the border with Somalia, meaning that refugees fleeing the famine there will not be able to cross legally.
