Sanaa: A landslide killed 11 members of a
single family when a large rock destroyed their three-storey
home west of the Yemeni capital, the official Saba news agency
said on Friday.

The rock was dislodged from a hill overlooking the
village of Modawar, in the province of Mahwit, around 80
kilometres from Sanaa.
Heavy downpours over the past few days had left the
ground waterlogged, the news agency said.

Neighbouring houses were also destroyed in the landslide
but they were vacant and no casualties were reported.
Floods killed 180 people and forced more than 10,000
others to flee their homes in southeastern Yemen in October
last year.
