Dublin: Coast guards in Ireland had a pleasant surprise as a wind-beaten houseboat, but otherwise intact, washed ashore on the coast.

However, what was more unexpected for the baffled guards was to discover a small note, purportedly from its owner, revealing his intent.

The short note found inside was seemingly from a man in Newfoundland, Canada.

Apparently, the solar-powered houseboat made all the way to the Irish coast after floating across the mighty Atlantic.

The note read: “I, Rick Small, donate this structure to a homeless youth to give them a better life that Newfoundlanders choose not to do!

“No rent, no mortgage, no hydro.”

According to a media report, local authorities spotted the boat at sea.

The news of the discovery spread fast after the coast guards posted the photos.

The owner of the vessel, Rick Small, is believed to be from Ontario, Canada.

“The Halifax authorities were amazed it made it to Ireland and was in one piece,” a spokesperson for the Irish Coast Guard reportedly said after getting in contact with their Canadian counterparts.

“They said the owner was hoping to cross the Atlantic in it, but they managed to discourage him,” according to the spokesperson.

Meanwhile, no final has been made as to what to do with the vessel but a local group has reportedly expressed interest in restoring it.
