Parliament to decide on Pak-US ties: Khar

Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar said that the country’s Parliament would decide on the bilateral relations with the United States.

Islamabad: Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar on Thursday said that the country’s Parliament would decide on the bilateral relations with the United States.

Khar further said that future relations with the US would be “clear, not confusing”.

She also stressed that the ‘war against terrorism’ cannot be won alone, the Dawn reports.

Khar’s comment comes after the special committee formed to oversee implementation of the resolutions passed during joint sittings of the Parliament and by the All-Party Conference (APC) on Pakistan-US relations held its first meeting on Wednesday.

The 11-member committee formed by Pakistan National Assembly Speaker Dr. Fehmida Mirza on November 18 on the demand of the opposition parties is headed by former Water and Power Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and has members from all major parties having representation in the National Assembly.
Besides overseeing the implementation of the resolutions, the special committee has also been mandated to make public the progress on the resolutions on monthly basis.
