Thai fighter pilot killed in crash: Air Force

A Thai fighter pilot was killed instantly today when his aircraft crashed during training in the northeast of the country, an Air Force spokesman said.

instantly today when his aircraft crashed during training in
the northeast of the country, an air force spokesman said.

"The accident happened at 11.55am (0455 GMT) when a F5E
fighter jet, in use since 1981 and attached to the fleet in
Ubon Ratchathani province, crashed on the roadside," Group
Captain Montol Suchookorn told.

The pilot of the one-seater jet, Flying Officer
Chatchawan Rasami, died at the scene.

Montol said an investigating team was dispatched soon
after the crash, which appeared to be an accident.
