Toll rises to 104 in Myanmar landslide

Many are still missing and search and rescue operations are underway to clear the soil.

Yangon: The toll from a landslide in Myanmar's Kachin state has risen to 104 as the rescuers recovered more bodies, officials said.

A giant amount of dump soil from a jade mine collapsed in the early hours of Saturday and it buried about 80 huts where local miners were sleeping, Xinhua reported.

Many are still missing and search and rescue operations are underway to clear the soil.

The residents said five similar incidents took place in the same area this year.
