`Two civilians, police officer killed` in DR Congo protests

Two civilians and a police officer were killed Monday in violent demonstrations against extending President Joseph Kabila`s hold on power in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a government source said.

Kinshasa: Two civilians and a police officer were killed Monday in violent demonstrations against extending President Joseph Kabila`s hold on power in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a government source said.

"One policeman was killed, and two looters also died," an official who did not want to be named told AFP. Witnesses said some looting had gone on on the fringes of the clashes.
