United Nations: The UN Security Council Monday strongly condemned a terrorist attack targeting a bus in Russia`s Volgograd city, saying it is "outraged" by the second suicide bombing in the city within a 24-hour period.

At least 10 people were killed and 10 injured early Monday when a bomb went off in a trolleybus in Volgograd. The attack came a day after a woman suicide bomber blew herself up at a railway station in the city, killing 17 people and injuring 45.

"The attack on 30 December 2013 targeted a trolleybus, causing numerous deaths and injuries, including among children and women," reported Xinhua citing a statement issued to the press here by the 15-nation security council.

" The members of the Security Council are outraged and condemned in the strongest terms the second terrorist attack that occurred within 24 hours in Volgograd, the Russian Federation."
The members said "these abhorrent and abominable attacks deliberately targeted places of mass gathering, in particular public transportation," and extended their condolences to the families of the victims in these "heinous and cowardly acts. "

In the statement, the council members reiterated their determination to combat all forms of terrorism, in accordance with their responsibilities under the Charter of the United Nations.
