Bluemont (US): The death toll blamed on storms and the ensuing blackout across the eastern US is now at 25 after a utility worker crashed her truck in Virginia whole helping restore electric lines.

The sheriff`s office in Loudoun County, on the Maryland border, said today the bucket truck developed brake problems while driving and went downhill into an intersection, where it was hit by a semi-trailer.

The crash late yesterday killed the bucket truck driver, 57-year-old Jacqueline Green, who had come up from Florida, to work on emergency repairs to the power grid.

Officials previously blamed 24 deaths on the storm and its aftermath.
More than 900,000 homes and businesses remained without power early today from the Mid-Atlantic to the Midwest.
