AP advanced state in respect of lodging online FIRs, IIFs

Andhra Pradesh has been recognised as an advanced state by the Ministry of Home Affairs in respect of lodging online FIRs and issuing Integrated Investigation Forms (IIFs), a top police official said on Sunday.

Linking of all the 1,643 police stations in the state
under electronic Computerisation of Police Services (eCOPS)
project has enabled the police to achieve this distinction,
said IG of Police Computer Services and Standardisation T
Krishna Prasad.

The internet-enabled eCOPS tool, which facilitates in
easier exchange of information between departments and police
stations also reduces the paper work substantially besides
enhancing productivity of human resources, he said.

AP police had registered 91 per cent as state average in
lodging online FIRs using the eCOPS.

The system enables police officers to view the FIRs
instantly and monitor the progress of investigation, he said.

Since 2008, over 3.65 lakh FIRs are available in the
data centre of Police Computer Services (PCS) here, Krishna
Prasad said, adding that this is the largest database ever
used in production for investigation purpose in India.

The database also includes information on 50,000 habitual
offenders` details with photographs and finger prints, missing
persons` details with photographs, 89.72 lakh vehicle owners
details, 80.68 lakh driving licenses details and over 5.89
crore voter ID card details, he explained.
