Hyderabad: The police here have rounded
up 15 persons for questioning in connection with the killing
of an unarmed constable by suspected terror operatives in old
city yesterday.
A constable attached to Andhra Pradesh Special Police
(APSP) U Ramesh (26) was killed when one of the three
motorcycle-borne assailants wearing masks opened fire at him
in Shali Banda area under Hussaini-Alam police station limits.
"We have picked up 15 persons for questioning and
gathering information from the shop-owners of the area who
were eyewitnesses to the incident", a senior police officer
told agency.
The police suspect that a terror operative Vicar Ahmed
alias Vicaruddin, who has been absconding for the last three
years, could be the mastermind behind yesterday`s incident,
the officer said.
Meanwhile, the probe into the shooting has been handed
over to Special Investigation Team (SIT), an expert probe
wing of the city police, he said.
