Kiran asks officials to ensure adequate power, water in summer

Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday directed the officials to ensure
adequate power supply to agriculture, drinking water supply
schemes and hospitals during summer.

Reddy, who held a review meeting with officials of Energy
department, AP TRANSCO and AP GENCO, directed them to ensure
seven hours supply to agriculture as has been the practice
since Y S Rajasekhara Reddy`s regime.
The Chief Minister also directed the AP TRANSCO and
DISCOMS that priority should also be given to drinking water
supply schemes, hospitals and night supply continuously
between 6 pm and 6 am for domestic consumption in view of the
examinations, a release from the Chief Minister`s Office said.

The release quoted officials as having said that the
power utilities are currently supplying 257.2 MU per day as
against 231 MU per day during the corresponding period last
year.
The Chief Minister yesterday requested the Union
Petroleum Minister S Jaipal Reddy to ensure supply of 2.5
MMSCMD of gas to independent power producers in the state to
boost power production and reducde shortfall.
