Hyderabad: Telangana Congress leaders on Sunday decided to meet party leadership in Delhi on September 22 to expedite the process of formation of separate state.

Andhra Pradesh ministers from Telangana, party MPs and MLAs from the region held a meeting here to chalk out their future course of action following the Congress Working Committee`s nod for separate Telangana on July 30.

"The meeting condemned the statements made by `Samaikyandhra` (united Andhra) leaders that Telangana formation shall be delayed," IT Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah told reporters.

The meeting resolved that Hyderabad should be the capital of Telangana, he said.

District Congress Committees (DCC) in the region would organise meetings on September 20 to thank the Congress high command for approving Telangana statehood.

It was also decided in the meeting that the Congress leaders and workers would organise meetings in villages in the region for a week from September 17.

Congress leaders would also organise public meetings during October and the dates will be finalised after their return from Delhi, he said.

The meeting resolved that safety and security of the common people, entrepreneurs and others in Hyderabad should be protected and their interests enhanced as per the Constitution, Lakshmaiah added.
