Hyderabad: Telangana supporters on Wednesday
organised rallies, sit-ins and other forms of protest as part
of the ongoing general strike in the region in support of the
demand for statehood.
Raising slogans in support of their demand, the Telangana
supporters across the region held protests demanding that the
Centre concede the separate statehood demand at the earliest.
Telangana political Joint Action Committee (JAC) convener
M Kodandaram asked the people to raise the Telangana demand
during Vijayadasami celebrations tomorrow.
The JAC has given a call for burning the effigy of ruling
Congress during the 'Ravan dahan' celebrations tomorrow.
Talking about the reported comments of Union Minister
Pranab Mukherjee that accepting Telangana demand would give
rise to similar demands elsewhere in the country, the JAC
convener felt that they did not amount to rejection of the
demand.
