Hyderabad: Activists of YSR Congress party on Monday held protests across Andhra Pradesh over farmers' issues and clashed with pro-Telangana activists in Warangal district.

Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy, president of YSR Congress, led the protest in Chittoor district which is the native of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Telugu Desam Chief N Chandrababu Naidu while his mother Vijayalakshmi, an MLA from Pulivendula assembly constituency, led the agitation in Kadapa.

Alleging that the incumbent Congress government as well as its predecessors did a precious little to grant relief to the farmers in distress, Jagan said "People are ready to teach them a lesson whenever elections are held. The farmers in the state are in a distress as they are not even able to store their produce due to unavailability of godown space."

He said that the state government failed to purchase farmers' produce and providing seeds to them.

The protests were held at the district collectorates all over the state and the YSR Congress leaders submitted memoranda to the collectors on farmers' issues.

Meanwhile, workers of YSR Congress clashed with pro-Telangana activists in Warangal district over the charge that Jagan's party was against carving out of Telangana as a separate state.
