Bihar: Former Rajbhasha director sent to jail

Former Rajbhasha director Dhruv Narayan Chaudhary surrendered before a vigilance court in connection with a disproportionate assets case.

Patna: Former Rajbhasha director Dhruv
Narayan Chaudhary on Thursday surrendered before a vigilance court
in connection with a disproportionate assets lodged against
him three years ago.

Chaudhary surrendered before the vigilance`s special
judge Om Prakash who sent him to judicial remand. At the time
of his surrender, Chaudhary had prayed to the judge that he be
sent to judicial remand.

The former Rajbhasa director surrendered on the
directive of the Patna high court sometimes ago while allowing
a conditional anticipatory bail of five members of his family,
who too were named as accused in the disproportionate assets
case in which the former was required to surrender before the
vigilance court within six weeks if the anticipatory bail
bails of others accused persons were to be allowed.

The vigilance bureau had registered a disproportionate
assets case against Chaudhary, his wife, two sons and their
wives in 2008 charging them with amassing wealth to the tune
of Rs. 4.21 crore beyond the known of income of Chaudhary
between 1.1.1982 to 26.4. 2008.

The vigilance had later submitted a chargesheet
against the accused persons in the vigilance court on
September 15, 2010.
