Bihar polls: Cong supports candidature of Digvijay Singh`s widow

Patna: Congress on Thursday bolstered the
electoral prospects of Putul Singh, widow of Digvijay Singh,
by declaring support to her candidature for the Banka Lok
Sabha seat in Bihar where a bypoll will be held November one.
"We have decided not to field a candidate against
Putul Singh in Banka," state Congress chief spokesperson P C
Mishra said in a press statement.
Earlier, Chief Minister Nitish had announced NDA`s
support to Putul Singh`s candidature and criticised the
RJD-LJP combine for fielding former union minister Jaiprakash
Narain Yadav from the seat against her.

The bypoll has been necessitated by the demise of the
former union minister and independent MP.
