JD(U) on Sunday received a shot in the arm with former RJD MLA Uday Manjhi joining the ruling party in Bihar.

Patna: JD(U) on Sunday received a shot in the arm with former RJD MLA Uday Manjhi joining the ruling party in Bihar.

Manjhi said he had resigned from the primary membership of RJD and decided to join the JD(U) because of the development and welfare works being carried out by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the progress of the state.

Manjhi announced his decision to join the party in presence of state JD(U) president Bashishtha Narain Singh at a press conference here.
JD(U) Rajya Sabha member RCP Singh and party spokesman Sanjay Singh were also present.

Singh said Majhi`s inclusion in the JD(U) would further strengthen the party.

Manjhi had contested the bye-poll to the Phulwarisharief assembly constituency in Patna as RJD candidate in 2009 and defeated Shyam Rajak in 2009.

Subsequently, Rajak, now Minister for Food, had defeated Manjhi in 2010 assembly poll by a small margin.
