Patna: Over 4000 government doctors, who launched a two-day strike last night pressing for wage hike, called off their stir on Tuesday night after the state government promised to look into their demands sympathetically.
The agitating doctors withdrew the strike following talks between their 10-member delegation headed by Bihar State Health Association (BSHA) President Ajay Kumar and Health Secretary Sanjay Kumar.
The Health Secretary said the doctors have decided to call off the agitation after he promised that their demands will be sympathetically considered.
Over 4,000 government doctors had launched a two-day strike since mid-night to press for their six-point demand including included parity in salaries and allowances with doctors in central government services, regularisation of service of contractual doctors and security for doctors in hospitals etc.
Health Minister Ashwani Choubey had threatened strong action against the striking doctors.
PTI
