Over 400 IAS/IPS officials furnish asset details

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar after taking up office for the second term last year had issued a circular directing the state government employees to submit their assets details by February 28.

Patna: Facing the prospect of their salaries being withheld due to non-declaration of assets, most of the about four lakh government employees in Bihar, including more than 400 IAS/IPS officers have furnished their details ahead of the February 28 deadline, official sources said on Saturday.

Most of the government employees, group one to group three staff, have submitted their asset details to the concerned drawing and disbursal officers in compliance with a recent government circular directing them to make public their assets, Principal Secretary (General Administration) Deepak Kumar told a news agency here.

The remaining government employees were also likely to follow suit ahead of the February 28 deadline, he said.

The assets details of the government employees would be compiled upon receipt of information from all district and will be posted on the website for public viewing, Kumar said.

They were warned that their salaries will be withheld if they failed to furnish the details within the stipulated time frame.

Kumar and his council of ministers had themselves declared their asset details by December 31.
