Patna: LJP president Ramvilas Paswan
on Monday, quoted statistics from the website of the police, to
dispute Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar`s claim that rule of
law had been established in the state.
Paswan said according to the figures available from
the website, the police registered 4,93,110 cases related to
cognisable offences between 2006 and 2009 after Nitish came to
power.
According to this, the police registered on an average
337 cases per day, Paswan said of which murders were 12,369,
kidnapping 10,270, loot and dacoity 9929, rape 4175 while the
number of cases related to atrocities on women was rising.
"The figures have exposed the claim of Nitish Kumar
government and the chief minister must tender unqualified
apology before the people for misleading them," he said.
Paswan also targeted the chief minister on the issue
of sharecroppers and said yesterday`s Kisan panchayat proved
that farmers had lost their faith in the government.
