Patna: The Patna district authorities on Thursday confiscated Rs 39 lakh in property here of a former Bihar director general of police, Narayan Mishra, in a disproportionate assets case investigated by the state Vigilance Bureau.
A three-storeyed building at Vednagar under Rupaspur police station area owned by Mishra was confiscated by a team of officials headed by additional district magistrate (Patna) Suresh Kumar Sharma.
The administration also took possession of two flats belonging to Mishra and his family at Nepali Mohalla under Digha police station in the state capital, official sources said.
The value of confiscated immovable property was estimated to be around Rs.39 lakhs, the sources said.
"We will soon freeze the bank accounts of Mishra," Sharma said.
The Patna High Court had on July 24 dismissed the petition of the former DGP challenging the February one order of the designated vigilance court here to confiscate his properties and that of his family in a DA case probed by the vigilance bureau.
The vigilance bureau had registered the DA case against Mishra for accumulating wealth more than Rs 56.62 lakh disproportionate to his known source of income.
A chargesheet was filed charging Mishra and his family with having accumulated wealth more than Rs.1.40 crore in 2007.
