Patna: Ten mobile phones were seized from the inmates of a Bihar jail Thursday morning, according to police sources.

Half a dozen mobile chargers, SIM cards and CDs were also recovered from the prisoners of a divisional jail in Saharsa district, the sources said.

This is the same jail where former Bihar MP Anand Mohan, serving a life term for the 1994 lynching of Gopalganj district magistrate G. Krishnaiah, is lodged.

On Tuesday, Anand Mohan was allowed by the police to visit a politician`s residence, talk to journalists and hold a `janata darbar`. He was on his way from jail to a court in Sitamarhi district, about 200 km from here.
A day later, Saharsa Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar suspended eight policemen, including a sub-inspector, for dereliction of duty.
A raid was conducted in the jail following inputs that inmates were freely using mobile phones.
