BJP does well in civic bodies elections in Chhattisgarh

The ruling BJP has done well in the civic body elections in Chhattisgarh, winning six out of nine municipal corporations.

Raipur: The ruling BJP has done well in
the civic body elections in Chhattisgarh, winning six out of
nine municipal corporations.

Official sources said BJP won in muncipal corporations
of Durg, Raigarh, Ambikapur, Chirmiri, Korba and Jagdalpur,
while the Congress bagged Raipur, Bilaspur and Ranjnandgaon.

Elsewhere in the elections to muncipal councils and
nagar panchayats also, the party has done well though details
are still awaited.

Counting, which began yesterday, is taking longer time
as conventional ballot papers were used instead of electronic
voting machines.

In 26 municipal councils, BJP won in 12 while Congress
got 9 and others bagged the remaining 5.

In Nagar Panchayat, out of 119, BJP got 53, Congress 33
and others 33.
