Terror suspect Sheikh Abdul Naeem escapes from police custody in Chhattisgarh

An alleged terrorist escaped from police custody on Sunday by jumping off a moving train in Chhattisgarh`s Raigarh district.

Raigarh: An alleged terrorist escaped from police custody on Sunday by jumping off a moving train in Chhattisgarh`s Raigarh district.

Sheikh Abdul Naeem, an alleged HuJI operative, jumped off the Howrah-Mumbai Superfast Mail between Kharsiya and Shakti railway stations early this morning, said Raigarh Additional Superintendent of Police, Praphulla Thakur, PTI reported.
Naeem was lodged in Kolkata`s Dumdum jail. Escorted by Kolkata police, he was being taken on a protection warrant to Mumbai for a hearing in a case on August 25, Thakur said.
Kolkata police has informed Government Railway Police (GRP) at Raipur about the incident following which a massive search has been launched to nab Naeem, he said.

A case has been registered with GRP at Raigarh, he added.
