New Delhi: If you are looking for
information about any of the metro stations in the city like
their location, parking and other facilities and daily
footfalls then just flip through this book.
A ready reckoner for those seeking information about
metro network, the book titled `Delhi Metro Stations and
Surroundings` was today released by Chief Minister Sheila
Dikshit. DMRC Managing Director E Sreedharan was also
present on the occasion.
Penned by Union Urban Development Secretary M
Ramachandaran, also the Chairman of Delhi Metro Rail
Corporation, the book is kind of a mini encyclopedia about
the stations besides having information about the locality in
which the stations are situated.
The book, priced at Rs 100, has been brought out by
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited. It has information about
143 metro stations which include stations that are part of the
phase II of the network. The phase II will be completed before
commencement of the Commonwealth Games.
Dikshit said Delhi has become a developed city with
launch of Metro Services. The services have since been
expanded beyond the territory of Delhi and Delhi Metro has
been catering to the needs of Noida and Gurgaon residents.
Dikshit said soon Delhi Metro will cover 190 kms route
and it is bound to become the life line of the city after
completion of phase-III and phase-IV when its total network
length will go up to 414 kms.
Dikshit described the book as a useful compilation
which will provide the commuters essential information. She
said with increase in metro network, the problem of pollution
and congestion on roads have been contained.
Sreedharan said the journey of Metro, which started
from the registration of DMRC in May, 1995, has set various
milestones since then.
He said DMRC has been able to ensure the professional
work culture, high values, social responsibilities and safety.
Sreedharan described Ramachandaran`s tenure as a
golden era of Delhi Metro. Ramachandaran expressed confidence
that the book will become a valuable guide to Metro users and
visitors.
The book also has information about various modes of
transport services available at the metro stations. It will be
available at all stations.
