New Delhi: Hundreds of BJP workers on Friday
staged a demonstration outside the Delhi Assembly, demanding
immediate compliance of the Lokayukta order recommending
sacking of PWD Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan from Delhi cabinet.

Some of the protesters, including city BJP chief Vijender
Gupta, former Delhi Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana, and MLA
Ramesh Bidhuri, were arrested by police. However, they were
released later.

"Chauhan must go. He has been found guilty of misconduct
of serious nature. We will not relent till he is shown the
door," Gupta said addressing the gathering.

Delhi Lokayukta Justice Manmohan Sarin had last month
recommended sacking Chauhan from the cabinet for trying to
protect a leading resort in a tax evasion case, holding him
guilty of "misconduct" of "grave nature".

In the order, the Lokayukta recommended to the President
to "withdraw her pleasure" for the minister to continue in
office as he "misused" his official position.

In the Assembly, BJP MLAs staged a brief walkout from the
House to protest against continuance in office of Chauhan.

In his address, Gupta also referred to the Wikileaks
expose on the alleged `cash-for-votes` scam in 2008 and said
the UPA Government has lost its moral right to continue in
power.
