Govt examining lease of portion of IDSA complex: Antony

Ministry had accorded sanction of grant of lease of 6.5 acres of land owned by the Delhi Cantonment Board for constructing the IDSA complex in 2002.

New Delhi: Government on Monday said it was
examining the lease of a portion of Indian Defence Studies and
Analyses (IDSA) complex here to a private hotel group by the
research institute funded by the Defence Ministry.

"A portion of the complex has been leased by the IDSA
to Residency Hotels. The matter is under examination," Defence
Minister A K Antony said in reply to a written query in the
Lok Sabha.

He said the Ministry had accorded sanction of grant of
lease of 6.5 acres of land owned by the Delhi Cantonment Board
for constructing the IDSA complex in 2002 for an initial
period of 30 years.

The Defence Minister said the land was located within
the limits of the cantonment and as per the contract, IDSA was
to start construction there within 30 months of getting
approval for its building plans from the Cantt Board.

IDSA is a government-funded institute focusing on
research in the fields of defence and security.
