New Delhi: A court here on Friday allowed Delhi
police to quiz in custody two persons who were arrested while
attempting to enter the high-security North Block, housing
Home and Finance Ministries, allegedly carrying two live
cartridges.

"The accused persons (Mukesh Kumar and Moti Lal) are
remanded to police custody till May 16," Additional Chief
Metropolitan Magistrate Ajay Pandey said.
Police submitted their custodial interrogation was
required to ascertain the motive behind the offence.

The accused, hailing from Rajasthan`s Sawai Madhopur
district, were apprehended yesterday by CISF officials
guarding the Gate No 2 of North Block after they were found
carrying two live cartridges.

The duo, however, claimed that they were trying to get
an audience with Minister of State for Finance Namo Narain
Meena to invite him for a wedding.

Mukesh, a former sarpanch of Rajasthan`s Wazirpur
village, and Moti Lal were caught after cartridges were found
in the former`s bag during the X-Ray baggage checking at the
entrance of the Finance Ministry.
Meena, a former IPS officer, is an MP from Tonk-Sawai
Madhopur in Rajasthan.

The duo did not have a license and could not explain the
presence of cartridges either, police said.

Delhi Police had sought the help of their Rajasthan
counterparts to ascertain the antecedents of the accused.
