New Delhi: Shocked over the day-light murder of a young college girl, students of the Delhi University organised a massive sit-in protest on Wednesday to highlight the police’s failure to nab her killer.

22-year-old Radhika Tanwar, a second-year student, was shot dead outside Ramlal Anand College in Dhaula Kuan`s Shantiniketan area, Tuesday morning, by an unidentified man who is believed to be stalking her for some time; there are also suggestions that the murderer was her “jilted lover”.

As per reports, her family has denied both the claims and has been demanding that the police investigate the case in its entirety.

The family said she left home for college at around 9:15 am. Her father Rajender Singh, a property dealer, said, "I have no clue what`s happening. I don`t know who could have done this to my daughter. She had no enmity with anyone."

"She never told us that she was facing problems from somebody. We don`t know anything and we don`t suspect anybody as of now," Vipin, Radhika’s brother, said.

The protest today at the South Campus of the Delhi University – where Radhika’s college is also located – is being supported by various student bodies and other organisations. Students in huge numbers were seen holding placards and shouting slogans seeking justice for their college mate and security for students.

Yesterday too, a large number of students had staged a protest demonstration and blocked the Ring Road.

The police, although suspect that the murder was committed by someone who knew Radhika, said that they are investigating the case from all angles.
