Two gangs of autolifters busted, four arrested

The motorcycles which they were riding were found to have been stolen from different places in Delhi.

New Delhi: Delhi police on Sunday claimed to have busted two gangs of autolifters with the arrest of four people including one recently released from jail and recovered 10 stolen vehicles from their possession.

25-year-old Manish who was recently released on bail and two of his associates Gaurav (19) and Sachin (22) were arrested by police this morning on a specific input while one
Rajender Kumar was taken into custody last night.

Acting on a specific information that Manish and his gang would come to Avantika Market in Rohini, police laid a trap and arrested them immediately.
The motorcycles which they were riding were found to have been stolen from different places in Delhi.

"On interrogation all the three accused disclosed that after release of Manish alias Monu on bail, he proposed a plan to them to steal motorcycles from North Campus, Delhi University area for joy rides and impressing girls," BS Jaiswal, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Outer District, said.

Later, Manish proposed to sell stolen motorcycles to his contacts in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to meet their expenses.

"In this process they gathered to proceed further for Haryana for disposal of stolen motorcycles and were apprehended," Jaiswal said.

On their instance, three motorcycles were recovered. Last night, Kumar was arrested during surprise checking of vehicles near Mangol Puri.

Kumar had earlier been arrested in an auto theft case.
