New Delhi: As journalists held
demonstrations demanding implementation of the recommendations
of the Majithia Wage Board, Congress today said that working
journalists have to be empowered.
"I stand personally committed to the cause of the fourth
eastate. There is a distinction between the freedom of the
press and freedom of the owners of the press. Working
journalists have to be empowered," party spokesman Manish
Tewari told reporters.
Tewari said that he has raised the issue in Parliament
and would continue his solidarity with the cause of the
mediapersons.
Replying to a question on the rise in the emoluments of
the employees of the AICC secretariat, he said that the thanks
in that regard should go to party chief Sonia Gandhi and
treasurer Motilal Vora.
