Coimbatore: S Gurumurthy, BJP candidate against A Raja from Nilgiris was disqualified by Election Comission for lack of documents.

Gurumurthy, a youth wing leader, had lost to DMK`s Raja in 2009 from the reserved constituency in 2009.
P Goplakrishnan of the AIADMK and P Gandhi are other key candidates contesting from the constituency.

The Nilgiris constituency sprawls across four districts. Though originally a hill constituency, Nilgiris lost its character after delimitation when Mettupalyam, Avinashi and Bhavanisagar, areas located in the plains, were included into the constituency.
The Badagas account for roughly 22 per cent of the total votes, the SCs form about 12 per cent and STs around 2.5 per cent.

In his affidavit, Raja has declared assets worth Rs 1.77 crore as against Rs 70 lakhs in 2009.
