Amethi: A war of words again broke out on Tuesday between Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and BJP`s Amethi Lok Sabha candidate Smriti Irani, as the Gandhi scion called the former TV actor an “armchaired politician.”

Addressing a gathering here earlier in the day, from where her brother, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is contesting, Priyanka took a jibe at Irani, calling her an `armchair politician` who is not in touch with ground reality.

"Some opposition leaders come here and spread misinformation. They are not in touch with ground reality," Priyanka said.

Irani hit back at Priyanka, saying: “seems Mrs Vadra has a problem defining me”.

This is not the first time that Priyanka has attacked Irani in her Amethi rallies. On Saturday, Priyanka had launched a direct attack on the BJP candidate, questioning her motives for contesting from Amethi. The Gandhi scion had also urged people not to vote for an "outsider" in the constituency.

Irani hit back, questioning how many times Rahul Gandhi visited the constituency in the last 10 years.
Addressing a public meeting, Priyanka had said: "All those contesting against Rahul are here just to contest against him..."

"... But our hearts are always here."

Irani retorted by questioning Rahul Gandhi`s performance as a parliamentarian.

"Mrs Vadra should tell how many times did Rahul come to Amethi in the last 10 years," Irani said in a tweet.

"They have kept Amethi aloof from development in the name of relations, and are taunting others... Compare my work as an MP in 2.5 years with Rahul, Mrs Vadra, you will come to know who is doing the drama," Irani said in a series of tweets in Hindi.
