Britain deports Gujarat resident

An Indian deported by British authorities for alleged illegal stay in that country was today handed over to the police here.

Ahmedabad: An Indian deported by British
authorities for alleged illegal stay in that country was today
handed over to the police here.

Jamil Rashid Ahmad (35), a resident of Bharuch
district, was handed over to police by immigration authorities
at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, for further
interrogation, police said.

Ahmad, who had gone to London on a visitor visa in
2004, was residing there illegally even after the expiry of
his visa. He was caught and sent back to India, the officials
said.

A probe was underway in the case, an investigating
officer said.
