Mehsana: The third accused in the
alleged gangrape of a lecturer, who later attempted suicide,
today surrendered before the police and was later arrested.

Mukesh Patel surrendered six days after a complaint was
lodged against him and two others, Ketan Thakar and Dinesh
Patel, in a police station at Kadi taluka, police said.

Dinesh and Thakar were apprehended on June 22 after the
25-year-old lecturer`s father lodged a complaint against the
trio.

Mukesh is a primary school teacher in Narsinhpura
village. Dinesh and Thakar are primary teachers at Sachana and
Bhankoda villages of the taluka, respectively.

The incident came to light after the lecturer consumed
poison at Kalol state transport bus depot on June 21 following
which she was admitted to a private hospital.

The victim`s father alleged in his complaint that the
accused clicked her objectionable photographs and used to
blackmail and sexually exploit her.

The complaint was based on a suicide note left behind by
the woman in her house which claimed that she was gangraped by
the three teachers of government primary schools over a few
months.
