Ahmedabad: Taking a dig at the Congress-led
UPA government over the issue of corruption, Gujarat Chief
Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said these days people wonder who
is going to be the next leader of the ruling alliance to face
arrest on graft charges.

"People`s mindset has become such that while switching
on the TV sets or opening newspapers they ask `who has gone to
jail today or who is the next to go to jail`," he said without
referring to the 2G scam or the Manmohan Singh government,
which has been hit by a number of corruption-related scandals.

"It is like the turn of `A` then `B` and then `C`. A
has gone, B has gone now it is the turn of C," Modi said,
without taking the name of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram,
who is facing the heat over the 2G spectrum scam.

DMK leader and ex-telecom minister A Raja and DMK
Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi, besides a host of senior government
officials and corporate executives are behind bars in the
2008 case. The BJP-led Opposition is now gunning for
Chidambaram, who was the finance minister when the alleged
scam occurred.

Speaking at the 54th annual technical convention of
Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers
(IETE) here, the BJP stalwart said "corruption ne pure desh ko
pareshan kar ke rakha hai, (corruption has disturbed the
entire nation)."

Modi said in an environment where corruption rules the
roost, technology can play a significant role for bringing
transparency in the system.
