Ahmedabad: A special CBI court today ordered
the Sabarmati Central jail authorities to provide tight
security to N K Amin, an accused in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh
fake encounter case.
The order was passed by additional Chief Judicial
Magistrate A Y Dave on an application by Amin`s wife Jayshree
through the CBI, raising concerns about safety of her husband
inside jail, where he was lodged with other co-accused in the
fake encounter case.
The court while ordering the jail authorities to provide
tight security to Amin, also directed it to give proper
medical care to the accused.
The court also declined to give order on request for jail
transfer of Amin, saying it was upon the jail authorities and
the home department to decide on the matter.
In her application, Jayshree had said after the
revelation made by an undertrial Shakeel alias Teja Yusuf
Sheikh last week in Vadodara that he was offered Rs 10 lakh to
kill Amin in jail, she was concerned about her husband`s
security.
Shakeel who was arrested in a rioting case in Vadodara
had made the revelation before the court last month.
Amin has offered to become an approver in the fake
encounter case, which has been opposed by eight other accused
including D G Vanzara.
