Haryana Ministers get portfolios; Ajay Yadav is FM

MLA Ajay Yadav becoming the State Finance Minister and the
Independents, whose support is crucial for the ruling
Congress, also managing some key departments.

Governor Jagan Nath Pahadia allocated the portfolios
to the newly sworn in nine ministers - six Cabinet and three
Ministers of State - belonging to the Congress (five) and
Independents (four) on the recommendations of Hooda, an
official spokesman said here this evening.
Ajay Singh Yadav will hold the portfolios of Finance,
Planning, Institutional Finance and Credit Control,Irrigation,
Forests and Environment, he said here.

In the previous Hooda regime, the Finance portfolio
was handled by senior Congress leader Birender Singh, who lost
the October 13 state assembly elections.

Another senior leader Randeep Singh Surjewala will
hold the portfolios of Water Supply and Sanitation,
Parliamentary Affairs, Electronics and Information Technology,
Science and Technology and Public Works (Building and Roads)
Department.

Mahender Partap Singh would hold the portfolios of
Power, Renewable Energy,Labour and Employment, Food and
Supplies, Urban Local Bodies and Industries and Commerce.

Om Parkash Jain, Independent MLA from Panipat Rural,
has been rewarded with the portfolios of Transport, Tourism,
Civil Aviation and Hospitality.
Paramvir Singh will hold the portfolios of Agriculture,
Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Fisheries and Cooperation.

Geeta Bhukkal has been given the portfolios of
Education and Languages, Social Justice and Empowerment, Women
and Child Development, Welfare of Scheduled Castes and
Backward Classes, Health, Printing and Stationery.

Among the Minister of State, Shiv Charan Lal Sharma,
Independent MLA from Faridabad NIT, will hold the portfolios
of Revenue and Disaster Management (attached with Chief
Minister), Consolidation and Rehabilitation.

Another Independent candidate and Sirsa MLA Gopal
Kanda has been given the portfolios of Home Sports and Youth
Affairs, Industries and Commerce (attached with Industries
Minister).

Sukhbir Kataria, Independent MLA from Gurgaon, will
hold the portfolios of Agriculture and Cooperation for which
he would be attached with Agriculture and Cooperation
Ministers.

The Congress has 40 MLAs in the 90-member House and the
support of all the seven Independents, who had earlier decided
to extend "unconditional support", is crucial for the ruling
party as it had fallen six short of getting simple majority.

Earlier today, Haryana Cabinet was expanded as the State
Governor, Jagannath Pahadia administered the oath of office
and secrecy to six MLAs as Cabinet Ministers and to three
other MLAs as Minister of State at a function organised at
Haryana Raj Bhawan, here.
