Haryana to provide 2.75 cr saplings

In its drive to make Haryana green and pollution free, the state forest department will provide 2.75 crore saplings of various varieties free of cost to people till March 31.

Chandigarh: In its drive to make Haryana
green and pollution free, the state forest department will
provide 2.75 crore saplings of various varieties free of cost
to people till March 31.

Saplings of Shisham, Kikar, Eucalyptus, Neem, Pipal and
Amla will given by the department.

Besides, saplings of cloned Eucalyptus and Poplar trees
will be provided at highly subsidised rates.

While disclosing this here today, a spokesman of the
department said the saplings of various varieties were
available in plenty in the nurseries of the department.

The period upto February 20 was highly conducive for
planting poplar saplings, whereas saplings of other trees
could be planted in the month of February, March, July and
August, he added.

The spokesman said there was no ban on felling of
eucalyptus and poplar trees in the notified areas under Punjab
Soil Conservation Act, 1900.

However, permit was required from the concerned Forest
Circle Officer for felling the trees of other species in the
notified areas.
