Haryana to spend Rs 1,695 cr for development of urban areas

The Haryana government would spend Rs 1,695 crore in 2011-12 for development of urban areas in the state, a spokesman of the Urban Local Bodies Department said on Saturday.

spend Rs 1,695 crore in 2011-12 for development of urban areas
in the state, a spokesman of the Urban Local Bodies Department
said on Saturday.

Quoting Haryana`s Minister of State for Urban Local
Bodies Gopal Kanda, the spokesman said the department has
received proposals for regularisation of over 1,300 colonies
in different cities of the state and a decision would be taken
shortly to provide basic facilities.

Development plans to provide more basic facilities like
roads, drainage, water supply and sewerage for 73 towns have
been prepared, he said.

More than 28 per cent of the population resides in urban
areas and adequate funds would be provided to improve the
financial health of urban local bodies and strengthen the
basic amenities in these areas, he said.
